2 New NYPD Commanders Take Over In Midtown, Hell’s Kitchen

MIDTOWN MANHATTAN, NY — New police commanders have taken the reins in the two precincts that cover much of Midtown and Hell’s Kitchen.

The Midtown North precinct, covering the northern part of Midtown as well as Hell’s Kitchen between 42nd and 59th streets, will be led by Deputy Inspector Megan C. O’Malley.

She succeeds Inspector Mark Iocco, who is moving to Patrol Borough Manhattan South, which supervises nearly a dozen Manhattan precincts.

Meanwhile, the 10th Precinct, which includes the southern stretch of Hell’s Kitchen, Hudson Yards and Chelsea, is now led by Captain Robert Gault. Former commander Deputy Inspector Kevin Coleman is moving to Patrol Borough Bronx, the NYPD said.

Both commanders assumed their new posts in late September.

O’Malley comes to Manhattan from Brooklyn’s 76th Precinct, covering Carroll Gardens, Cobble Hill and Red Hook. A more than 10-year NYPD veteran, she had previously worked in Central Brooklyn’s 70th Precinct,

Christina Anstead Tries a Totally New Kitchen Design: Will It Catch On?

Christina Anstead of “Flip or Flop” fame has made a name for herself with her modern coastal designs. But as is clear from her new show, “Christina on the Coast,” she doesn’t always stick to her signature styles. How does she do outside her comfort zone?

In the latest episode, “Boho Flair,” Anstead is working with Sabrina and Miguel, who want her to design the kitchen and living room in their Anaheim Hills, CA, home. They have a healthy renovation budget of $70,000, but their project comes with an unusual challenge. With some areas of the house already renovated, Anstead has to match the existing boho style so her upgrades won’t seem out of place.

While boho is not Anstead’s strong suit, she’s game to give it a try. Here’s how she manages to mix and match decor styles, which might inspire some ideas in your own abode, too.

Is the Greeley Square Bathroom “America’s Best Restroom”?

Yes, it’s true, a bathroom in Greeley Square is in the running for “America’s Best Restroom.” In fact, this year, New York City has the honor of having two bathrooms in the final round of the Cintas competition: the one in Greeley Square just next to Herald Square and one at the JFK AirTrain station. Last year, a bathroom at LaGuardia Airport was one of the finalists. (It lost out to the Nashville Zoo in the end).

The 12 Best Keto Frozen Meals

We include products we think are useful for our readers. If you buy through links on this page, we may earn a small commission. Here’s our process.

On the very high fat, very low carb keto diet, you have to stick to 20–50 grams of net carbs — total carbs minus fiber — per day. Doing so helps you enter ketosis, a metabolic state in which your body primarily burns fat instead of carbs (1).

Because planning all your meals on this eating plan can be intensive, many people want quick options, such as frozen meals.

Yet, most frozen dishes are loaded with carbs. Finding a keto-friendly frozen meal can be tricky, but it’s not impossible if you know where to look.

The keto-friendly frozen meals on this list were evaluated based on the following criteria:

  • Net carbs. Each of these products contains 9 grams of net carbs

BOOTHWYN, Pennsylvania (WPVI) — A Delaware County couple who had to put their business on hold due to the pandemic used their skills to help others in need.

CDC updates website to include airborne transmission of COVID-19

Oct. 5 (UPI) — The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention posted a long-awaited update on the agency’s COVID-19 website Monday clarifying that the disease can sometimes be spread through airborne transmission and can travel more than 6 feet in unventilated spaces.

The agency said evidence shows the coronavirus can spread from particles that linger in the air even after an infected person has left, like the way tuberculosis, measles, and chicken pox are spread.

“The virus that causes COVID-19 appears to spread more efficiently than influenza but not as efficiently as measles, which is among the most contagious viruses known to affect people,” the website said. “People who are infected but do not show symptoms can also spread the virus to others.”

The update said that under certain conditions, people with COVID-19 seem to have infected others who were more than 6 feet away in poorly ventilated spaces.

Apple is rumored to be readying its own over-the-year headphones.

Óscar Gutiérrez/CNET

Apple has stopped selling headphones and wireless speakers from third-party makers ahead of the expected launch of new Apple audio products, Bloomberg noted Monday.

Apple has long carried headphones and speakers from rivals such as Sonos, Bose and Logitech, but those products disappeared from the company’s website at the end of September and employees at the Apple ‘s retail locations were instructed to remove the products from store shelves, Bloomberg reported.

Apple is reportedly working on several versions of over-ear headphones, including a fitness-oriented model and one with premium leather-like finishes. There was speculation that the headphones may have interchangeable components too, like being able to switch out ear cups.

One long-rumored device that could make its

The White House Bet on Abbott’s Rapid Tests. It Didn’t Work Out.

People without Covid-19 symptoms have been among those taking the test on White House grounds, where individuals who received negative results were granted swift access to the president and his advisers.

Dr. Scott Gottlieb, the former commissioner of the F.D.A., described these procedures as a misguided attempt at a “zero-fail testing protocol” in an interview on CBS’ “Face the Nation” on Sunday, saying that officials “weren’t taking any precautions beyond testing people who are going to be in contact with the president.”

However, according to the products’ packaging, both Abbott rapid tests are intended for people with Covid-19 symptoms, early on in their illness. When Abbott submitted the tests for emergency authorization from the F.D.A., the company provided data only for people with symptoms. When used appropriately, the company has said, both tests perform about 95 percent as well as P.C.R. But how well the products do in asymptomatic individuals
