Police: Stamford man assaulted liquor store clerk, stole cognac

STAMFORD — Police arrested a city man who they say told a downtown liquor store clerk that he had a gun, pushed the clerk down and robbed two expensive bottle of liquor, allegedly after being told he could not use a credit card to by the booze in the establishment, police said.

Tyshawn McCoy, 35, of Atlantic Street, was charged with armed robbery, sixth-degree larceny and first-degree threatening and held overnight in lieu of a $100,000 court appearance bond.

Sgt. Robert Shawinsky said police were called to Atlantic Wine Liquor Beer at 7:18 p.m. Wednesday on the report that a robbery had just taken place.
