Faber launches new designs of Ishiguro classics

Faber is to release new editions of two Kazuo Ishiguro novels, The Remains of the Day and Never Let Me Go, with fresh cover designs.

It comes as the publisher celebrates the upcoming publication of Ishiguro’s latest novel, Klara and the Sun

Ishiguro won the Booker Prize with The Remains of the Day in 1989, was adapted for  screen and was listed as one of the BBC’s 100 Novels that Shaped Our World. Never Let Me Go was also dramatised in 2006, and shortlisted for the Booker Prize. He was awarded the 2017 Nobel Peace Prize in Literature for his, novels of “great emotional force.”

The new editions were designed by Pete Adlington. 

Klara and the Sun will be published by Faber & Faber on 2nd March 2021, and will be Ishiguro’s first novel since his 2015 work, The Buried Giant. 

The Remains of the Day has sold 270,604 copies for £1.8m (post-1998, when Nielsen BookScan records began), while Never Let Me Go is on 774,652 copies for £5.3m. The Buried Giant, published in 2015, sold 152,227 copies in paperback and 43,482 in hardback via Nielsen BookScan’s UK TCM.
