Nvidia’s 30 Series launch is still experiencing challenges thanks to all this demand for its powerful new graphics cards. First it was bots and scalpers robbing honest consumers of an opportunity to buy the RTX 3080 and RTX 3090. Then it was the brief — albeit polarizing — “Capacitor-Gate,” as well as the RTX 3070 being delayed. Now there’s a new wrinkle: Nvidia is suspending sales of its Founders Edition cards and will instead rely on its “other partners.”
Here’s Nvidia’s statement: “We have heard your feedback regarding the NVIDIA online store and are working to improve the experience. In the meantime, we will be selling our GeForce RTX 3080 and RTX 3090 Founders Edition through other partners. In the US, you can shop for Founders Edition at Best Buy.
What about Europeans interested in 30 Series Founders Edition cards? Nvidia says it is still evaluating potential options in that market.
Fortunately, there are a wealth of additional options from Nvidia’s board partners like ASUS, MSI, EVGA and Gigabyte. Nvidia reassures consumers that in the coming weeks there will be “an increasing supply” of boards.
One such option is the Asus ROG Strix RTX 3080 OC (Overclocked) which I’ll be reviewing here in the near future.
For now, may luck be on your side hunting these elusive GPUs down. Here are the links to purchase the GeForce RTX 3080 and GeForce RTX 3090 at Best Buy.
