44% of Americans Plan to Apply for Store Credit Card This Holiday Season; Big Jump From 2019

CHARLOTTE, N.C., Oct. 12, 2020 /PRNewswire/ — A lot more Americans say they’re likely to apply for a store credit card this holiday season than did in either of the previous two years, according to a new report from CompareCards by LendingTree.

That’s despite the fact that more than half (56%) of people who say they’ve had a store credit card say they’ve regretted getting one.

Key findings:

  • Big jump in interest in store cards: 44% of Americans say they’re at least somewhat likely to apply for a store card during the holiday shopping season. That’s up from 32% in 2019 and 24% in 2018.
  • Store card APRs fall: The average APR for a new store credit card is 24.24%, down from 25.41% in 2019, thanks largely to Federal Reserve interest rate cuts.

New York pharmacist sent DEA agent cocaine card: officials

A New York City pharmacist thought sending a greeting card with cocaine to a DEA agent could throw off an investigation of his store, officials say.

His plan didn’t work out.

Dimitrios Lymberatos, 34, is charged with obstruction of justice and conspiracy to commit obstruction of justice.

Last year, the Drug Enforcement Administration began a regulatory investigation of the pharmacy in Queens after its application was flagged for incomplete information about the owner, according to court documents.

The investigation substantially delayed the pharmacy from dispensing controlled substances, including in-person interviews with the operators and subpoenas. That was hurting the business financially, officials say.

In May, the investigator opened a card sent to her home and found several small packets with a white powdery substance later determined to be cocaine. The investigator immediately notified colleagues at the DEA.

This can easily be done from your PlayStation 4 if it has a connection to the internet.

1. Log into your account on your PS4 and access the PlayStation Store. This should be a registered account with internet access.

2. From the PlayStation 4’s Store menu, scroll down to the second-to-last option, “Redeem Codes,” and select it.
